Impacting the community

Since 2020, Chick-fil-A has donated more than US$1.125 million to local hunger-relief organizations through Second Harvest. Second Harvest is Canada’s largest food rescue organization and reduces the environmental impact of food waste by redistributing surplus edible food from across the supply chain to non-profits throughout the country. For each new restaurant that opens in Canada, including this new location at Shops at Don Mills, Chick-fil-A will donate US$25,000 to local charitable organizations through Second Harvest.

“Chick-fil-A's charitable impact and commitment to reducing food insecurity cannot be over-stated,” Lori Nikkel, CEO, Second Harvest said. “With every new Canadian restaurant that opens, they help to reach more people in more communities across the country. Both through surplus food donations, but also with these significant US$25,000 commitments, Chick-fil-A is a very valued partner that has impacted millions of Canadians in only a few short years!”

Harrison’s restaurant will also be participating in Chick-fil-A Shared Table™, an initiative that redirects surplus food from the restaurant to local soup kitchens, shelters, food banks and non-profits in need. Chick-fil-A Shops at Don Mills will do its part to reduce food waste in its kitchen with a “cook less, more often” approach, reducing the amount of food that goes unserved. When there is surplus food, Chick-fil-A Shops at Don Mills will donate it to a local non-profit organization. To date, more than 20 million meals have been served from Chick-fil-A Shared Table donations.
